Spring Cleanup & Dethatching

Thatch is the layer of living and dead stems, roots, stolons and rhizomes between the green blades of grass and the soil surface. Thick thatch layers prevent water, air and nutrients from penetrating the soil, causing reduced root growth and increased potential for drought stress. Thatch also favors fungal growth and can harbor insects. Land Concepts uses de-thatchers to remove the layer of thatch and debris from your property. Your spring cleanup will entail a complete de-thatching of your property, as well as blowing of leaves and debris away from all buildings and rock beds, and out from under shrubs. Land Concepts will also collect and dispose of all debris.

Mowing

At Land Concepts we treat each yard as if it were our own. Mowing will be done on a weekly basis, with a specific day that will be set with you. If it is raining on your scheduled day, mowing will proceed the following day. All blades are sharpened on a daily basis to ensure the highest quality of cut. Sharp blades mean clean cuts, which reduces your susceptibility for disease. Land Concepts will mow your lawn at a height of 2.5 to 3.5 inches depending on temperature and time of season. In general, the longer you let your lawn grow, the deeper the root system. This increases its chances of withstanding drought and severe heat. It also decreases weed germination and results in a healthier lawn. In addition to mowing, we trim around all objects and blow all clippings from your driveway, curbs, sidewalks and patios. As our customer, we know you will expect nothing but perfection.

Fall Cleanup

Land Concepts will power blow all debris away from all buildings, out of all rock beds and out from under shrubs. We will then perform a final trimming around all objects on your property. All leaves and debris will be vacuumed and disposed of properly, and all sidewalks, patios and driveways will be cleared of any remaining debris.

Shrub Pruning

Shrub pruning will be performed to promote healthy growth and maintain proper appearance of all shrubs. Professional pruning helps to protect your shrubs and extend their lives. Our pruning equipment is always sharp to ensure that your shrubs get the cleanest cut possible. Debris will be collected and disposed of from all rock beds after trimming.

Core Aeration

Core aeration is generally the best way to reduce thatch. Some aeration occurs naturally, but due to soil compaction or other soil conditions, lawns rarely reach their true potential without some form of mechanical aeration. Aeration is done with a specialized machine that removes small-diameter plugs from the soil. These plugs are scattered on the surface of the lawn and eventually break down to form a valuable top dressing that enriches the soil and helps break down thatch. The holes formed by the core removal provide a route for air, water and nutrients to reach the roots. This will eventually strengthen the roots, in turn making the grass thicker and more stress resistant. The soil will naturally expand over time and fill in the holes, reducing the compaction of the soil.

Roundup of Sidewalks, Parking Lots and Ornamental Beds

Unsightly weeds growing between sidewalks, in ornamental beds and in parking lots are controlled through weekly inspections. The weeds will be manually removed or sprayed with Roundup to achieve a professional look.

Power Edging

Power edging is the removal of organic matter that has accumulated on the edges of sidewalks, driveways, patios and curbs. This is performed by running a power edger along the outside edges of these areas. All surfaces will be cleaned, and all debris will be disposed of.

Fertilizing and Weed Control

Your program will be designed to maintain your lawn’s vibrant color and vigor and to minimize weeds throughout the growing season. These applications are seasonally adjusted to your lawn’s needs and are made about five to six weeks apart. Our trained lawn technicians will work with you to maintain the quality lawn you expect.
